Questions to Ask Your Insurance Carrier

Call the number on your insurance card, and ask the questions here. Keep a record of the call (including the date) and request a reference number for the call.

  • Is nutrition counseling a covered benefit in a private practice setting?
  • Does my plan only cover nutrition counseling for certain medical conditions? What is the list of diagnoses?
  • Does it require a referral or pre-authorization before my visit?
  • Do I have a co-pay due at the time of the visit? If so, what is the amount?
  • Do I have a deductible that applies? If so, how much is left?
  • How many visits are covered?

Can you have disordered eating without an eating disorder?

Yes - while there are certain criteria for the official diagnosis of an eating disorder, disordered eating is a spectrum. You can have a rocky relationship with food without being diagnosed with an eating disorder. I believe that no matter what, you deserve compassionate support and to feel better around food.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do Dietitians help with eating disorders?

Yes, we do! Eating disorders, disordered eating, and chronic dieting often have side effects on the body (like digestive issues, slow metabolism, and malnutrition). A dietitian nutritionist is an important part of helping you learn how to nourish your body without harmful food rules.

Do you work with other areas besides eating disorders?

Yes - I also provide nutrition care for polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), digestive issues (including IBS), chronic health conditions, and general wellness. Feel free to reach out to see if I’m able to help with what’s on your mind!

Do you offer in-person sessions or virtual?

Both! I have an office in Leominster, MA for in-person appointments and can offer telehealth/virtual nutrition sessions to residents of Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, and Vermont.
